On Memorial Day 2019, a series of devastating tornadoes struck Dayton, Ohio. The storm resulted in over 200 injuries and the destruction of 419 houses, apartment units, commercial buildings and other structures. Thankfully, as of yet, no lives have been lost. However, damages and more than 1,400 downed trees continue to obstruct roadways and delay cleanup. Many people have sustained fresh injuries as they initiated recovery efforts. The city’s director of public works, Fred Stovall, said:
“It’s not going to be days, I can tell you that for sure…[I]t will be weeks…this is going to be a humongous effort for us.”
