Ramadan Mubarak!
The holy month is upon us once again, offering billions of Muslims around the world the opportunity to engage in profound reflection, solemn devotion to Allah (SWT), and charity and mercy towards those less fortunate.
In 2025, Ramadan will begin in the United States at sundown during the evening of Friday, February 28. The holy month will conclude with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, which begins after sundown on Sunday, March 30.
Because the Islamic calendar is based on the lunar cycle, the dates for the beginning and end of Ramadan change each year, moving back in the calendar by approximately 10-11 days each year. (For example, Ramadan 2026 will likely begin on Feb. 17 or Feb. 18, 2026, and conclude on either March 18 or March 19, 2026.)
Another effect of the lunar cycle is the changing times for each day’s Ramadan prayers, as well as the time for the fast-breaking meal of iftar. Thus, it can be difficult to know when exactly is the proper time for prayer.
