I needed something that embodied his tireless dedication. My clearest memory is the brutal cold of a Turkish winter morning: we would watch my father, small figures of admiration, as he left before dawn to catch the train. Every bone-chilling commute was for us, a relentless, selfless effort to help his children become the best people for society.
That memory, the image of his commitment in the pre-dawn cold, led me to the idea of a water well in Benin. His effort was the life-source that sustained our family; now, this well will be a life-source for a community. The clean, flowing water is the physical manifestation of my father’s good heart and provision. By building this well in his memory, I am turning his legacy into a continuous, flowing gift, empowering others to rise just as he empowered us.
