In the Kadiolo region of Mali, cataract blindness has become a silent crisis. Every year, hundreds lose their vision to a condition that can be cured with a simple, 15-minute surgery.
To confront this challenge, Embrace Relief has launched a life-changing initiative to perform 300 free cataract surgeries in Kadiolo by the end of December 2025.

Why Kadiolo Circle?
With an estimated population of 345,000, Kadiolo is home to more than 50,000 people aged 50 and above, the age group most vulnerable to cataract-related blindness.
Among them, approximately 1,604 individuals live with severe visual impairment, including 927 cases directly caused by untreated cataracts.
Yet, restoring sight requires only one 15-minute surgery — safe, effective, and affordable.

All of Embrace Relief’s programs contribute to the realization of at least two SDGs.
Since 2013, Embrace Relief has provided more than 40,000 cataract surgeries and 550,000 comprehensive health screenings worldwide through our operation of medical centers, mobile health clinics and medical camps, and in conjunction with our global network of partner organizations.
Many children have received cataract surgeries thanks to Embrace Relief, giving them the opportunity to learn at the same pace as their peers in school.
Adults who have their eyesight restored have more opportunities to pursue productive careers with fewer physical restrictions.
