Medical Supplies for Mali

By June 6, 2020 No Comments

Currently, Embrace Relief and Project C.U.R.E are in an ongoing partnership to provide medical equipment to the Clinic Gaoussou Fofana and Clinic Planet Vision in the capital city of Bamako, Mali. Bamako has a population of over 1 million people that the clinics serve.

These clinics recently underwent an expansion of 6 new departments that include ophthalmology, dentistry, gynecology, otolaryngology services (ear, throat, and nose), urology, and orthopedics.

With the new additions of departments, the clinics require newly upgraded equipment. Unfortunately, due to a lack of financial resources, they won’t be able to properly treat those in need of medical attention. With your help and support, we will be able to deliver the necessary supplies and equipment so the clinics can run efficiently.

Here are a few of the types of equipment needed to fully have these departments up and running:

  • Phacoemulsification Machine (Used to perform cataract surgery)
  • Operating Table
  • Surgical Microscope
  • Tonometer (Used to assess the health of the eyes)
  • Optical Coherence Tomography (Used to photograph the retina)
  • Yag Laser (Used to treat eyes after cataract surgery)
  • Anesthesia Machine
  • Post-Mounted Lights
  • Infant Ventilator

To perform a properly safe procedure all equipment and instruments need to be sterile and the operating room has to be well maintained. Due to the ever-growing population and only two clinics to serve it, it is understandable that the facilities are struggling to keep up.

Upgrading and improving the clinics will ensure that a higher volume of people will be served in safe and hygienic conditions. That’s why Embrace Relief needs help from supportive donors like YOU to contribute to helping the millions in Mali that are in great need of aid.

There’s no better feeling than knowing that your help can greatly impact someone’s life during times of difficulties.
