Tennessee Tornado Fundraiser

[Photo]: The back of a home in Mt. Juliet after tornadoes hit Middle Tennessee early March 3. Larry McCormack/The Tennessean-U On March 3rd, 2020, several powerful tornadoes ripped through several cities in Tennessee, including Nashville. At least 24 lives were lost, and 18 are confirmed missing. The twisters may not have been on the ground for long, but their power was enough to cause massive amounts of damage. Homes were damaged or destroyed, trees uprooted, hundreds of utility poles broken leaving thousands without power. As a result of the powerful tornadoes, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee declared a state of emergency.  Despite the destruction, one thing that remains strong is the will to help recover and rebuild. We here at Embrace Relief continue to send help to those that need it, and right now we want to ask you to help us with helping Tennessee get back on its feet.

HSEnd College Readiness and Leadership Program

We are a group of students from HSEnd College’s Readiness and Leadership Program in Austin, Texas. We decided to start a Group FUNdraiser with Embrace Relief to raise $7,500 to renovate an orphanage in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, or Ethiopia. We are very excited to travel to the orphanage to help with the work and meet the children! It is our mission to help those in need around the world – especially children in orphanages. This vulnerable population is one that is in severe need of funding. We are taking action today to improve their lives.

Please, help us make this world a better place in any way you can.

We want to help people in need, especially those that need it the most. Children, and especially orphans, need the most help, so we want to do everything we can to improve their lives, even if it’s a little bit.

Turkish Refugee Relief

Today, and every day, my heart is heavy due to the refugee crisis that is happening around the world. Did you know that every day thousands of refugees seeking asylum? Furthermore, hundreds of Turkish refugees are fleeing to Greece to seek safety and asylum. These refugees flee from violence, political, and ideological persecution. Unfortunately, they are forced to uproot their lives and relocate in hopes to find a better life and future for their children. These refugees need assistance and help to learn a completely new way of life in order to not just survive but to also thrive. I desperately want to help these people who do not feel accepted anywhere by raising a goal of $10,000. The thought of not having a place to call “home” breaks their hearts, as it does mine. I am passionate about saving lives and wish to raise $10,000 for the Turkish refugees through Group FUNdraising. Due to gracious donors and volunteers, Embrace Relief is able to provide food, healthcare, shelter, financial, psychological, and legal support to those who need it most. Embrace Relief is also in the implementation phase of offering English courses to these Turkish refugees. Many want to learn English because it is a prominent language in Europe and around the world, just in case they want or have to migrate to a different country.

Coronavirus Outbreak Fundraiser

Embrace Relief received an urgent call from the Anatolia Cultural and Dialog Center in Hong Kong, desperately asking for surgical masks to combat the spread of the coronavirus. As of February 8th, the virus has killed 2876 people and infected 84,144, of which 8,095 are in critical condition.

A surgical mask is one of the most basic and least expensive medical tools used to combat illness from spreading. The National Health Commission of China urges every person to wear a mask at all times while in public; a person is considered a threat if they do not comply, in the epicenter of the outbreak. The masks reduce the spread of any germs by 80%, which lowers the chance of contracting the virus. Due to the worldwide high demand for medical supplies, surgical masks are virtually obsolete. These masks can only be worn for 8 hours a day, yet, many are forced to wear the same mask for multiple days. Now, the masks are 3x above average market price due to the rate of inflation.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the coronavirus is a “large family of viruses found in both animals and humans. Some infect people and are known to cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)”. Moreover, the WHO states the virus is most commonly spread through “respiratory droplets,” which is the bacteria that come out when you cough or sneeze without using a tissue or covering with your elbow. Therefore, medical masks are the first line of defense from protecting oneself against contracting the virus.

Surgical masks will be primarily distributed to vulnerable communities and frontline workers in Hong Kong and China.

As a global community at risk of a worldwide pandemic, Embrace Relief is asking you to join us in providing this essential need to prevent further virus outbreaks. You can help by making a donation or sending boxes of surgical masks to Embrace Relief located at 18 Passaic Ave Unit #1, Fairfield, New Jersey, 07004.
