Greece Refugees Trip 2019

Set Them Free and Embrace Relief partners in organizing a Greece trip to visit women and children refugees. Our program includes sessions of conversation clubs for the students of Sisters Without Borders ESL classes. The instructors, who are native speakers, will also be organizing classes for our youth students as well. We will also be organizing a graduation ceremony for 30 women and children who have successfully completed the series of online language courses in English and Germany. The program also includes sessions of intellectual games to improve the leadership skills of children refugees and help them express themselves better. We wholeheartedly appreciate your support in organizing this trip and helping us to support the women and children refugees in Greece who had to leave their homeland, Turkey, to escape the purge and social death.

Sharing Happiness

Sometimes we often look at ourselves and ask, “What is the best way to make myself happy?” There could be many ways to answer this, but there is a key towards getting there, sharing. Throughout the years, we are taught that “Sharing is Caring” and that when you share with others, not only will they be happy, you will be happy too. This is because knowing that you have made somebody happy, it gives you the warm and fuzzy feeling that comes with doing something great. Caring for one another is something that connects us all as human beings, no matter where we are. Because the holiday season is known as “The Season of Giving”, we are shown sharing happiness with others the most during this time of year, in more ways than one. It doesn’t necessarily have to be only wrapping gifts in colorful boxes, it can be something as simple as holding the door open, saying hello to your neighbor and more.  In addition, a good way of sharing happiness is giving back to those in need around the world. Here at Embrace Relief, we have many ways of giving back. From sponsoring cataract surgeries, to building water wells, providing refugee relief, to helping students through GradPlus; the possibilities are endless! Of course this is only a short list of the types of relief you can offer through Embrace Relief. You can help share happiness with others around the world this holiday season by Clicking Here; above the donation amount box on the page is a list of our current campaigns to choose from.  Happy Holidays!

Emergency Housing for Refugees Fundraiser

Winter has arrived once again. It’s the time of year when the winds are high, the air is cold, and the sun sets early. Winter is so much more than this though. It is a time to spend with loved ones, give thanks, and show appreciation for one another Unfortunately, refugees in Greece do not get to experience this loving side of winter, because most of the families have been separated from one another and even more do not have a place to call home. These refugees are often forced to brave the winter in refugee camps. These camps are crowded and under-resourced leaving many to struggle during these cold months. Because of this, Embrace Relief has organized safe and secure emergency housing for refugees who do not have a place to stay. Furthermore, refugees will also have access to food, psychological counseling, and legal assistance. This is the time of year to show support and love for your global family. Refugees are already plagued by stress and fear, the winter will only bring more hardships to their daily lives. Refugees in Greece need assistance and help to learn a completely new way of life in order to not just survive but to also thrive Due to the gracious donors and volunteers, Embrace Relief is able to provide this emergency housing, food, healthcare, financial, psychological, and legal support to those who need it most.

To The Rescue

I have started a fundraiser to combat health issues in Mali, Africa. I aim to raise enough money for 10 cataract surgeries in the next 10 days. This 10 for 10 mission will amount to $1,000 that will provide 10 people cataract surgeries and 100 health checkups for people via Embrace Relief’s Mobile Health Clinic. This will give 110 people the basic human right to proper health care and will change lives. I wish to give sight back to those who have lost it to cataracts and provide health screenings to others who have little to no access to doctors or hospitals. Cataract is a progressive disease of the eye(s) that causes blurry vision and, eventually, complete blindness. Although cataracts are easily curable, many individuals in Mali have inadequate access to healthcare. The Rescue will restore vision to those who have lost it and provide proper health screenings.

College Tuition for 50

The Bunker Hill Community College located in Boston, Massachusetts, has started a Group FUNdraiser through Embrace Relief to support girls’ college education.

The Bunker Hill students understand that many girls in Africa cannot meet their educational needs, due to financial inadequacy, gender inequality, and unequal opportunities. In order to compensate for these shortcomings, they decided to raise money for them.

Through this fundraiser, young girls will receive financial support to attend college. This includes tuition, meals, housing, transportation, as well as access to printing, books, and more.

Girls will have the opportunity to pursue a higher education and gain skills to create a financially stable future for them and their families. Girls who receive an education become empowered, smart, and self-sufficient women who can break through the educational and workforce gender inequality barriers and pave a path for the future of all girls.

55 Cataract Surgeries

The Bunker Hill Community College located in Boston, Massachusetts, has started a Group FUNdraiser through Embrace Relief to sponsor cataract surgeries in Mali, Africa. Most people in Africa, especially those over a certain age, suffer from cataracts. However, due to malnutrition, illness, and climate conditions, cataracts also affects children. Insufficient resources, equipment, and financial conditions have prohibited thousands of people from getting the necessary operations – which can be done as little as 15 minutes. They have decided to raise money for cataract surgeries in Africa to find a solution.

Clean Water for All

The Bunker Hill Community College located in Boston, Massachusetts, has started a Group FUNdraiser through Embrace Relief to install a water well in Tanzania. Although there are underground resources in Africa, water wells cannot be opened due to financial deficiencies. Therefore, they have decided to collect funds to build a well and help people quench their thirst. Building a water well will make the community self-sufficient, decrease the risk of waterborne illnesses, boost agriculture, the economy, and education since people will not have to walk miles to retrieve clean water.

Pioneer Academy Projects

The Pioneer Academy of Wayne, New Jersey has partnered in collaboration with Embrace Relief to start and complete three humanitarian projects.

The Pioneer Academy will collect funds to support two library projects and one water well Tanzania.

Through these fundraisers, the Pioneer Academy will use the collected funds to build two completely new libraries that will include renovating and converting a room in the Pwani Primary School and the Mwambo Primary School into fully-functioning libraries. The students will fill it with books, furniture, shelves, desks, fifteen computers, and other library features. These computers come from Embrace Relief’s Accessible Computer Technology for Under-served Students (ACT-US) Program. The computers come pre-installed with education programs and can be remotely updated from headquarters in both California and Kenya. This will allow students who have little to no access to the internet to access up-to-date information and knowledge. Furthermore, this library will provide students an inviting, safe, and stimulating place to learn.

The students of the Pioneer Academy also recognize the urgent and dire need for clean water in African countries such as Tanzania. This group of students understands that there are millions of people around the world at any given moment who do not have access to clean water. This causes malnutrition, debilitating dehydration, lack of mental capacity, stunts growth, and can cause life-threatening waterborne diseases such as cholera, dysentery, typhoid, hepatitis, and more. This water well will be located next to a school that will benefit the entire community as well as the students. The Pioneer Academy water well will improve hygiene, health, and overall quality of life.
