YOUTH 2020 SUMMER KENYA ORPHANAGE PROJECT

Every day, millions of vulnerable orphans are prone to the cruel madness of this world. Being the hope for the future, they deserve a safe and sound childhood that can prepare them for adulthood. Yet unfortunately, many orphans in Kenya are left to fend for themselves, facing great difficulties in their daily lives such as finding food, water, and shelter. Absolutely no child should be worried about these basic necessities and rights of life. Embrace Relief, along with our partners from Lehigh Dialogue Center and Insight Foundation, are providing support for Orphanage Project in Kenya to renovate their facilities to improve functionality and comfort.

YOUTH 2020 SUMMER KENYA WATER WELL PROJECT

Together, we wanted to make a little change by building a water well in Kenya for those who struggle to find clean water, and we need your help to open the well. Our impact may not change all the water problems in the world, but it will fix the useable water problem for a village of up to 2,000 people in another corner of the world. With a group of ten motivated, bright, and passionate students – we are excited to Group FUNdraise with Embrace Relief and make a difference.

Leigh High School Embrace Relief Club

We are a group of 5 students from Leigh High School in San Jose, California, who want to bring awareness to the global issue of access to clean water. We wish to help those who don’t have access to clean water by raising money to open a water well. We have opened a club in our high school as an Embrace Relief Group FUNdraising chapter to draw attention to the clean water crisis in Africa. We are raising money to build a water well in Africa, that will serve up to 2,000 people daily. This project is important to our Embrace Relief club because we believe that clean water is a basic human right that everyone deserves access to. Furthermore, easy access to clean water improves sanitation conditions and hygienic practices that will minimize waterborne diseases such as typhoid, cholera, dysentery, and more. It will also improve the economy, education, and agriculture because people will not have to walk miles to collect clean water. Please, help us supply a community experiencing a water crisis access to clean useable water.

Raise the Children

(Photo: Children playing soccer at the Dogodogo Center) A child is normally seen playing, laughing and just overall having a good time with a big smile on his or her face. However, for millions of orphaned children worldwide, that is often not the case. For the children living in orphanages, their childhood is usually defined by the conditions of their living situation.  Embrace Relief is committed to helping make sure every child is taken care of, and be able to reclaim their childhood rather than be afraid of what’s to come. Through our “Raise the Children” program, we provide children with food, clothing, school supplies, hygienic products, and healthcare.  This program can help cover the costs of the orphanages’ bills, including water, gas, electric and more. It’ll also provide products for nourishment, personal and overall hygiene. This includes beans, rice, sugar, wheat flour, maize flour, bath soap, powdered soap, disinfectant, and toothpaste. Every orphanage deserves to be a safe haven for children that have nowhere else to go for a certain period of time. Hiari Orphanage – Tanzania

The Hiari Orphanage is located in Dar es Salaam, the largest city in Tanzania. This orphanage is home to 40 children of different ages and levels of education. Most of these children do not know their parents and have started their lives in this orphanage.

Life hasn’t been easy for them, often having to deal with limited supplies which lead to some not being able to eat or practice proper hygiene. With their innocence reflecting in their eyes along with having big smiles, they are waiting for a path to a brighter future.

Nisaau Ahlil Jannah Charity Foundation – Nigeria

The Nisaau Ahlil Jannah Charity Foundation can be found in Northern Nigeria, with the head office stationed in the city of Zaria. This foundation is run under the motto, “Rebuilding the Future of the Orphans”, wanting to help the children’s current situation go from a vicious cycle to a virtuous cycle.

It is the home of 60 children and they all have the same hopes and dreams, wishing for it to be a great place for accommodations and schooling. With there not being enough supplies to accommodate all the children, the dream had been slowed down to a halt.

Despite all this, the children continue to believe that a miracle will occur and they can reclaim their childhood.

Foundation Galaxie: Orphelinat Mer Ter – Democratic Republic Of Congo

The Foundation Galaxie Orphanage is located in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This orphanage was first opened in 2014, bringing in 20 children. Each child carried a very painful and vulnerable backstory, with some of them becoming orphans on a count of awful conflicts occurring in their country.

But these children are educated with the motivation of a brighter future, wanting to improve their community, something that is possible with elevating the younger generations up to the rank of humanity.

Investing in the Future of Education

Unfortunately, the high school student dropout rate in New Jersey is increasing compared to the national average. Therefore, Embrace Relief has implemented the GradPlus program in 16 schools throughout the state, giving high school students the opportunity to pursue vocational training in a field they are passionate about

Partnerships with local organizations and schools allow Embrace Relief to work directly with the students, teachers, and mentors to ensure a path to successful higher education. When a student enters GradPlus, they work directly with a mentor and tutor to optimize studying habits for the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) test, which is required to enter vocational training.

Students have the ability to choose from over 45 choices of vocational training paths in every type of field such as medical, tech, business, cosmetology, and more. Some specific programs include being a personal trainer, web development, electrician, massage therapist, radio or television broadcaster, and so many more!

Why is GradPlus important?

  1. Improves self-esteem and confidence
  2. Results in higher graduation rates
  3. Provides guidance toward a successful career path or college education
  4. Informs students about access to financial support and certification programs
  5. Strengthens academic concepts hindering students’ educational success
  6. Increases higher income opportunities in the future

GradPlus is an excellent program for high school students who face economic and environmental conditions impeding academic excellence, participation in extracurricular activities, and transition to secondary education or a career. 140 high school students have benefited from GradPlus to date.
