Mobile Farmers Market
Donate NowNew Jersey is a diverse state with a variety of communities, some of which struggle with food insecurity. Although dubbed the Garden State, there are more than 650,000 families who lack access to fresh and nutritious food and fruits and vegetables. With more than 50 food deserts* across New Jersey, food and nutrition insecurity is expected to increase in the coming years, requiring innovative and sustainable programs to address the ongoing problem.
To tackle this pervasive and dynamic issue, Embrace Relief has the Mobile Farmers Market, a fresh farmers market on wheels. The size of a small bus, it is equipped with shelves, refrigerators and freezers, lighting, heating, and air conditioning - perfect for keeping fruits and vegetables fresh. The Mobile Farmers Market gives us the mobility to target specific communities facing food and nutrition insecurity - especially those in food deserts.
With our partners, we host closed monthly fresh produce distribution programs in Clifton, NJ, to families who are considered “unhoused”, are in transitional living, or are living in multi-generational households.

*A food desert is an area where it is difficult to buy affordable or good-quality fresh food and produce. This is usually due to the closing of food stores or increased prices.
