R.I.S.E.: Empowered Women Empower Women
Here at Embrace Relief, we’re fostering women empowerment. In other words, fighting gender inequality by helping women grow and inspire future generations of women. This is of utmost importance because, unfortunately, women and girls represent a very high percentage of the world’s poor and suffer higher rates of discrimination and violence. Also, those who work longer hours than men still end up earning less money, and school attendance among girls from poor families is very low due to boys’ education being considered a greater economic investment. In fact, 34.3 million primary school-aged girls are currently out of school worldwide, and of this, 842,000 live in Tanzania, Africa.
Lack of Women’s Education in Tanzania: The Stats
- Tanzanian women and girls often have the responsibility to do household chores like fetching water.
- As a result, only 15% of female students continue to upper secondary schooling, resulting in the majority of the female labor force being employed in agriculture
- Due to restricted access to education, 37% of young Tanzanian women marry before age 18. Hence…
The R.I.S.E. Program
        To promote women empowerment, Embrace Relief created R.I.S.E. (Reach Inspire Support Educate), an education program that helps Tanzanian women obtain higher opportunities for themselves when they would otherwise not have the means. We work with the local government of Tanzania to ensure the effectiveness of the program, which is divided into two sections:
- Higher Education Support, which funds 14 young Tanzanian women seeking a higher education. $100 per student per month provides tuition, meals, health insurance, transportation, and books.
- Educational Leadership & Management Training, which funds 21 female teachers seeking additional certifications in Education Leadership & Management and School Quality Assurance, enabling them to take on more prominent/managerial roles in schools. In two years, students can earn a Diploma in School Inspection or a Diploma in Education Management and Administration. $100 per student per month provides tuition, meals, housing, transportation, and books.

What is the Global Water Crisis?
What is the Global Water Crisis?
Simply put, water is life. There’s nothing more essential to it—and us humans—than water. After all, we need it for all of life’s basic necessities such as drinking, bathing, cooking, handwashing, growing crops, you name it. Yet, unfortunately, the world is in the midst of a global water crisis. Areas currently struggling from accessing both the quantity and quality of water necessary for life include Cape Town, South Africa; Flint, Michigan; rural, sub-Saharan Africa; and urban Asia. Overall, that’s over 700 million people currently caught up in the tragic crisis.Â
What are Three Causes of the Global Water Crisis?
- Climate change, such as altered weather patterns including droughts or floods
- Increased pollution
- Increased human demand and overuse of water
Embrace Relief Water Crisis Solution
Fortunately, Embrace Relief has tossed its hat into the mix to try to alleviate this crisis as much as possible. Currently, we have set our sights on the millions of people in sub-Saharan Africa who are collecting unsafe water from lakes, rivers, and ponds on a daily basis, infecting themselves with waterborne illnesses that either result in death or make them too sick to work or pursue an education.Â
Many of them also spend up to six hours a day obtaining this water, especially women and young girls, forcing them to face danger and extreme weather conditions. Unfortunately, this daily practice also steals valuable time they could be using to work or pursue an education. The fact this vastly impacts women and young girls is particularly noteworthy because studies show females contributing to the workforce and pursuing education increases gender equality, which in turn leads to economic growth. Therefore, due to Africa’s lack of access to clean water, millions are suffering greatly from poor health and poverty, just like in other areas of the world impacted by the global water crisis.
How to Improve this Situation
Fortunately, Africa houses a substantial amount of clean water underground, possibly 20 times more than the 8,000 miles of visible water in its lakes and ponds. Even more fortunately, Embrace Relief stepped up to the plate in 2020, building 409 water wells throughout Chad, Cameroon, and Nigeria. We also plan on building hundreds more throughout the region, as well as in Nigeria. The current wells supply clean water to over 400,000 people on a daily basis, are constantly monitored to ensure peak performance, and are guaranteed to last at least five years.Â
Fountains of Hope
Embrace Relief also plans to reconstruct hundreds of non-functioning water wells throughout Chad, Cameroon, and Nigeria with its Fountains of Hope campaign, and has already successfully started the reconstruction process in Chad and Cameroon. Each reconstructed well receives the same advanced features as ones Embrace Relief fully constructs, so they’re sure to provide clean, sanitary water for hundreds of thousands more people.

CJCP Secure the Future Club Water Well
CJCP Secure the Future Club wants to start a FUNdraising project to help build a water well in Africa. There are millions of people who don’t have easy access to clean water. They are needed to walk hours to find the closest river or lake where they can get water.
Unfortunately, this water is not safe and causes them to have diseases that is dangerous for their health. Clean water which is an important daily source of life should be accessible to everyone.
