What’s to come with COVID-19?

The coronavirus pandemic has exponentially skyrocketed in the United States. Apart from the 7 million positive cases in America alone, COVID-19 has stripped millions of their loved ones, stable income, and overall well-being. Although we may be able to overcome these unprecedented times by following CDC guidelines, cases continue to surge, and its repercussions will continue to linger at the expense of others.

CNN reporters Christina Maxouris and Nicole Chavez indicate that we may see an explosion of positive cases in the coming seasons. Director of the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) Dr. Chris Murray warns: “First, as case counts have come down in some states, we tend to see that people become less careful, they tend to have more contact … But then the most important effect is the seasonality of the virus, that people go indoors, transmission happens more.”

America is now estimating at about 765 deaths daily from the virus, but the number could reach 3,000 by December. According to a recent study conducted by the Pew Research Center, “one-in-four adults have had trouble paying their bills since the coronavirus outbreak started, a third have dipped into savings or retirement accounts to make ends meet, and about one-in-six have borrowed money from friends or family or gotten food from a food bank.” This issue will not be contained until cases are. While we can assume a direct relationship between positive cases and financial insecurity, it is also important to note some groups are more vulnerable than others.

Embrace Relief has recognized the heartbreaking circumstances people are currently under. In an attempt to stabilize some major pillars to humanity, we have started a campaign centered around community restoration, “Stronger Together.”

Since April 2020, we have been able to provide: 52,400 masks, 4,180 hot meals for frontline workers, 840 paper towels and 20+ gallons of antibacterial soap for hospitals, 840 face shields, 1,700 families with meat packages, and 71 families with monetary support.

Join us in our efforts to fulfill the needs of the public and mitigate the unwarranted threats posed against their welfare.

COVID-19 Support for the U.S.

It has already been 6 months since the world was forced to shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. We were advised to wear masks, face shields, and be 6ft socially distant from one another to avoid the spread of the virus. The entire human race was startled from millions of reported COVID-19 cases to thousands of people losing their livelihoods. Currently, there are more than 31 million coronavirus cases. Even though some people have learned to adapt their day-to-day living with the current pandemic, there are still millions of people who are having a hard time coping up with the aftermath of COVID-19. The most recent unemployment rate in the U.S. (from May to July) is 4.1%. Even though they already got their benefits from the government, it’s not enough to get them by. Social distancing is still a luxury they cannot afford Social distancing is a privilege. It means you live in a house good enough to practice it. Hand washing is a privilege too. It means you have access to clean running water. Hand sanitizers are a privilege. It means you have money to buy them. Lockdowns are a privilege. It means you can afford to be at home. All of us who are practicing social distancing and have imposed a lockdown on ourselves are very lucky to have the means because many people won’t be able to do this So far with our COVID-19 Support for the U.S. Campaign, we were able to provide 52,400 masks, 4,180 hot meals for frontline workers, 840 paper towels and 20+ gallons of antibacterial soap to hospitals, 840 face shields, 1700 families got meat packages, and helped 71 families with monetary support. With the coronavirus still ongoing, people are more aware that the virus can be more contagious than ever because of the cold weather. We are expected to see an increase in the COVID-19 cases and are advised to practice strict social distancing. Millions of people are still unable to pay for basic necessities including rent, utilities, and food. With fears of hunger, homelessness, and certain hopelessness on the rise for this already vulnerable population, they need us now more than ever. Together, WE CAN OVERCOME! Together, WE ARE STRONGER. Big or small, every effort counts and it will all have a great impact on someone’s life.  With us getting ready for what’s to come, Embrace Relief is launching a second COVID-19 campaign with your help to provide more for as many people as we can here in the U.S. with financial assistance for rent, food, and utilities during the ongoing pandemic. We simply cannot leave this vulnerable population to face this hardship on their own, and we know that especially in times of collective concern, we must come together to protect those who are unable to protect themselves. You can help ease the burden of these people in need by donating whatever you can to our campaign. It is high time that during these difficult times we set aside our differences to come together, unite, and BE AS ONE. If not NOW, when? If not YOU, then who? You can be that positive change you have been waiting to see in the world.  Alone we can do so little; Together, we can do so much. This too shall pass, and in the end, there’s a bright light waiting for all of us at the end of this dark tunnel. Individually, we are just one drop. TOGETHER, WE ARE AN OCEAN.

Raise the Children For A Promising Future

For children, the common goal is to see them playing, laughing, or overall living a carefree life with a smile on his or her little face. However, for many children worldwide, that is often not the case. For the children living in orphanages, their childhood is defined by the conditions of their living situation. These children already deal with the reality that they are not with families of their own every day. Now, they watch COVID-19 affect lives around the world while they live among the populations who are being hit the hardest.   Currently, due to the lack of funding and resources available in most orphanages, there are approximately 140 million children worldwide who require basic necessities. Embrace Relief’s Raise the Children Program is dedicated to caring for children around the world by providing for their every need so they can have a prosperous future.   Recently, our program’s new approach dedicates itself to helping children with their needs while also helping maintain the orphanages as a whole. This plan will make sure that every child is included. These are the estimated monthly costs for one orphanage. Your monthly donation will cover the following:
  • General (15%): Coverage of costs for general necessities that benefit the function of the orphanage, including gas, charcoal, water, and electrical bills.
  • Alimentary (70%): Products for nourishment, including beans, rice, maize flour, wheat flour, sugar, cooking oil, and various spices.
  • Hygiene (15%): Items for personal and overall hygiene, including products such as bath soap, powdered soap, toothpaste, and disinfectant.
As of right now, we have helped 2,336 children through our program. Currently, we have the following orphanages within our program: the Hiari Orphanage in Tanzania and the Foundation Galaxie: Orphelinat Mer Ter in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These children’s ages are from 2 to 17, a critical time in the development of any child.    We are proud to share that The Hiari Orphanage now has 6 university graduates: 3 engineers, 2 teachers, and 1 medical doctor. All thanks to YOU, our amazing donors! We continue to help children in need by supporting them with a brighter future.   We believe that every child, no matter their background, deserves to have a promising future in whatever path they choose, without having to worry about falling behind during uncertain times.
