Embrace Relief worked to help the tornado victims in Moore, OK. A tornado rolled through a suburb of Oklahoma City, destroying everything in its path. The Tornado wrecked two schools, a medical centers, and dozens of neighborhoods. 24 people were killed including 9 children, and hundreds were injured. Many were left without food, water and shelter.
Embrace Relief distributed water, diapers, clothes for babies, blankets, gloves, and other necessary needs of the victims.
Embrace Relief Collected and donated $10,000 to Red Cross Oklahoma and also $5,730 for the tornado victims.
Embrace Relief collected $4500 to help the victims of the Boston Marathon Tragedy.Embrace Relief gave the donations to the One Fund Boston of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.
There are more than 360,000 Somalian refugees staying in the world’s largest refugee camp (Dadaab Camp) near Kenya. The only hope of survival is the food and water at the refugee camp which is only enough for one out of the day four refugees. Without help from outside, the survival rate will keep decreasing because of increase in refugees. According to UN report, two million children are undernourished. In order for them to survive, support is urgently needed. Refugees are walking for days to reach Ethiopia and typically anly 1 or 2 children from a family of 4 can reach the camps.
Embrace Relief distributed 80 Lbs food packages to more than 2000 Somalian refugee families in Kenya 2011 and 2012.
After the earthquake of 7,2 magnitude, more than 600 people died and many were injured. Many buildings collapsed and most were damaged. Embrace Relief sent food, blankets and clothes to be distributed in Van. Many were left homeless, so Embrace Relief set up tent to provide temporary housing for the victims.
Embrace Relief responds quickly to disasters but also focuses on long term solutions to the problems that these disasters cause. Therefore Embrace Relief is building a dormitory in Van, Turkey that will house 200 students. The dormitory will be completed by September 2013.
” 1001 Kids for Sandy Relief ” was initiated by Embrace Relief to encourage our kids to volunteer in disaster areas like Staten Island, NY, Hoboken, NJ and Rockaway NY.
1001 Kids donated money from their savings for Hurricane Sandy. They raised money by setting up bake sales. They served soup to the victims, sorted clothing that was donated for the victims of the hurricane, and also contributed by providing moral support.
Embrace Relief received a $150,000 donation from Turkish relief organization, Kimse Yok Mu Solidatarity and Aid Association. KYM launched an aid campaign to help the victims of Sandy, expressed to be most violent hurricane in the last 30 years.
Embrace Relief contributed to Hurricane Sandy disaster relief efforts along with Red Cross.
Red Cross field Supervisor Zoe Jennings explained that the help given by Embrace relief was timely and very much appreciated.
Volunteers, served soup and bread to 350 people at the Levittown Memorial High School shelter on Nov 9, 2012.
They served soup, bread, and water to 850 people at the shelter Nassau Community College ARC on Nov 10, 2012.
Embrace Relief volunteers served dinner to 350 people at Lewittown Memorial HS shelter on Nov 10, 2012.
Volunteers served food and drinks to 700 people on Nov 12,2012 at Nassau County Community College.
